METRICS 2005 will still be held in Como, but at a different location than the one originally planned. The conference will be held at Villa Olmo, a late XVIII century neoclassic villa by the lake with a garden and a park (instead of Teatro Sociale, as was originally planned). Villa Olmo is the place where most conferences are held in Como. You can see pictures of Villa Olmo here and also at

I would like to reassure all of you that, since Como is a fairly small town, there is absolutely NO need to make any changes as far as hotel reservations are concerned. Villa Olmo can be easily reached on foot from any hotel in Como. Here is a map of Como.
